Born in 1909, Alexandre Lunois is a self-taught French artist. His style is impressionist with a strong touch of surrealism. He made many sketches and watercolors throughout his life and they are among the world’s most expensive in this medium.
Alexandre Lunois was born in Paris on February 2, 1863. He is an autodidact artist and the inventor of lithotint printing. After studying black and white lithographs, he began to experiment with color lithography. His travel inspired his work even more so than his yearly trips around Europe. As of 1907, Lunois dedicated himself largely to depicting books.
