Edvard Munch is credited with the creation of Expressionism. He was from Norway, born in 1863 and died in 1944. His most famous painting ‘The Scream’ depicts a man who has had a mental breakdown. Munch also used more abstract pieces to express himself and many of his paintings revolve around the female figures he drew. Munch used drawing, lithography, woodcuts and frescoes as mediums for his work.
