Kono Bairei Canvas Wall Art

Kōno Bairei was a Japanese painter who was born and lived in Kyoto. He was a member of the Ukiyo-e school and specialized in kacho-e painting in the Meiji period of Japan.

In 1852, he studied with Nakajima Raisho who was a Maruyama-school painter from. After Raisho’s death in 1871, he studied with Shiokawa Bunrin from the Shijo-school, his work included flower prints, bird prints (including Western realism). He opened an art school in 1880 and his students included Takeuchi Seihō, Kawai Gyokudō and Uemura Shōen.
