Piet Mondrian is an artist from the De Stijl art movement. This movement was just as important to modern art as Cubism and Abstract Expressionism. One of the characteristic qualities of De Stijl’s work was abstract form and use of primary colors. The goal of Mondrian’s work, like that of other artists in the movement, was to find a universal language in Art.
