Sientje Mesdag-Van Houten is a Dutch artist who specializes in painting watercolors. She was also the first female member of the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Her paintings have been exhibited all over the world, including the Louvre Museum in Paris, France.
Sientje Mesdag-Van Houten studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam, but after being criticized by instructors for not painting “realistically,” she left to pursue her own visions. She then went on to become one of Holland’s most celebrated painters.
